ANSI/BHMA A156.4‌ For pivot hinges, it also includes the above tests. Including technical requirements and test methods for door closers, including pivot hinges.

ANSI/BHMA A156.17‌ The test of spring hinges, including cycle test, etc.

ANSI/BHMA A156.20‌ For the evaluation requirements of strap and tee Hinges, various tests including durability test are carried out to ensure the performance and quality of these types of hinges.

EN Standard of Hinges

EN 1935: 2002 for single-axis hinge test requirements, including durability test and deformation test, etc. It is one of the most used standards in the construction industry. A certified product must have a test report that meets the standard’s requirements. And it has to obtain CE marking.

Chinese Standard of Hinges

Features of the CNS Hinges:

  1. Material and size: applied SUS 304 stainless steel. The thickness is usually 3 mm. High strength and corrosion resistance.
  2. Surface treatment: uniform and delicate color. A small deviation of hole position and hole distance.
  3. Functionality: smooth use, mute. Currently there are products such as oil-free hinges.
  4. Durability: good quality materials, production process upstream, hinge service life.

Introduction of the Standards

1. QB4595.1-2013 -ordinary type hinge. It has three grades, grade 1 is the highest. Including requirements for size and deviation, axial and radial clearance, service life, load bearing, and corrosion resistance. Applicable to general fine residential or office buildings and other common public and commercial construction scenarios such as wooden doors or fire doors.

2. JG/T 125-2017 -hinge .It has three grades, including door and window hinge requirements: Ⅰ and Ⅱ for doors, and Ⅲ for windows. Standard reference to the European standard. Increased hinge life test after the door deformation requirements, impact requirements, etc., applicable to schools, hospitals, and other doors.

3. QB/T4063-2010 -ball bearing hinge. divided into three grades, grade 1 is the highest grade. It has the highest requirements for hinges among these CNS standards. It is formulated according to the American standard and has high requirements for hinge thickness, life test, load-bearing test, and friction. It is suitable for heavy-load doors or doors with large traffic.
